We specialise in shipping motor vehicles from the UK to South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, East Africa, Nigeria, Australia and New Zealand. A selection of different car shipping options is available - cars can be shipped in 'sole use' or shared containers or on the enclosed car decks of ocean-going RORO Car Carriers.

Container shipping encompasses a number of different options. We offer 20 ft or 40 ft FCL 'sole use' container services, with only your vehicle(s) in the container, to various destinations. This involves your car being secured within a container with straps and wheel chocks to hold it in place. You effectively pay for the sole use of the container, for your vehicle(s) only. (A number of options are available - at extra cost - should you have other goods and wish to ship them at the same time.)

Zambezi Freight are the UK's favourite car shippers to Southern, we have broad knowledge of the country regulations in this region. We also have frequent shared container services to Harare, Bulawayo, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia, and to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in New Zealand. Your car is loaded into the container, and a crate is custom-built around it to protect your vehicle in transit. You pay only for the space taken up within the container by your timber-framed vehicle. We then load the rest of the container with other goods (baggage, personal and household effects, and furniture). Your vehicle is fully enclosed in transit by a 4 inch (10 cm) timber frame.

Again, a number of options are available - at an extra cost - should you have other goods and wish to ship them.

RORO Car Shipping

Selected port destinations are also served by roll-on, roll-off (RORO) car carrier services. Such vessels are purpose-built car carriers, used by manufacturers to deliver brand new vehicles around the world. Cars are protected from the elements in enclosed car decks and are secured by straps and chocks. Service frequency is usually once or twice a month, and the transit time is shorter than for container vessels, but there can be useful cost savings on some routes over container shipment.

Personal Effects
On certain containerised services, personal effects can be carried in vehicles at no extra freight cost. Please check with us if this type of shipment is allowed before loading baggage and personal goods in your vehicle. Please note NO personal items of any nature can be placed inside the vehicle for the RORO service.

Preparation
A detailed pre-shipment condition report is completed upon receipt of your vehicle. For Australia and New Zealand all vehicles are inspected by Quarantine upon arrival we strongly suggest the inside of the vehicle be vacuumed and the bodywork be clean, removing visible mud and dirt from the wheel and underneath compartments. Should you arrange steam cleaning yourself make sure you obtain a certificate to verify the cleaning that has been done. Note that steam cleaning prior to shipment does not preclude the relevant authorities at destination ordering steam cleaning again.

Shipment Protection
A professional and very reliable service is always provided although there is always the possibility of something unexpected occurring, and we recommend that you sufficiently protect your vehicle. We are pleased to quote competitive rates, with low deductible excesses, dependent on ultimate route and method of shipment. Reduced rates are available for high value shipments. A condition report on each vehicle is completed at the time of delivery.

Documentation
In order to protect all parties concerned, we must have sight of the original (and receive a copy) registration document, and/or copy invoice, (if available), prior to shipment. If the vehicle is not registered in the name of the shipper, an appropriate letter from the owner, which will be referenced, giving authority to ship the vehicle, is mandatory.

Other documents confirming evidence of use overseas, date and value at the time of purchase etc., may be required by foreign customs officials at destination. We can provide information on most countries' customs regulations. It is the responsibility of the shipper to ensure that they conform with such customs regulations. Of course, we are unable to guarantee the continued validity of foreign customs regulations, and shippers should confirm the current status of their shipment, with the authorities in the country concerned. Unfortunately, customs regulations can, and do, change, so it is important to check that you are aware of the most up to date regulations.

Nationwide Collection Service
We can arrange collection of your vehicle, by trailer, or by an insured driver, prior to shipment, from your address in the United Kingdom. Please contact us for rates for this service.

Vehicle Reception
Your vehicle may be delivered to us between 0900-1700hrs weekdays and by prior arrangement on Saturday mornings at our warehouse..

Booking/Vehicle Declaration Form
A booking form should be completed and returned to us. In some instances we will require a deposit of 10% of shipping costs. The balance of shipping fees is due in all cases, and without exception, before vehicles are shipped. We are unable to offer Cash On Delivery shipments.

Payment
We accept payment by cash, bankers draft, interbank transfer, or by cheque, (shipment will only be effected upon receipt of cleared funds in our bank account). Payment may also be made by Mastercard or Visa (handling charge 2%). American Express and Diners Club are also accepted (handling charge 4%).

We ship from the port of Sheerness (near Kent) to Walvis Bay twice a month on purpose built vehicle carrying vessels, transit takes approximately 14-18 days port to port. Once your vehicle arrives at Walvis Bay you will need to have your vehicle cleared through customs, you can either choose to contact our agent or you can nominate your own.
